History:

The Citroen was too small and had to go! Sherry had previously owned a new RS turbo and 1600 XR2 and is no stranger to hot Fords. Seeing the 2I in the local paper we just had to drive the 10 miles to the garage for a look. Two test drives and an inspection later and it was sat on the drive. Sherry used it each day for the excursion to work which started at a 50 mile round trip but progressed to 100 with the fuel bill to match! Myself I had been contemplating a Ford as a project car perhaps an Escort RS (MK1) or other such hybrid to complete. The arrival of a Golf GTTDi and the "If you want to keep it put it in the garage" prompted a weekend clear out of the garage and the 2I was squeezed into its new more permanent home. The car then took on a new role being the 'spare' The car was originally owned by Lease plan and used by a lady who worked for Mothercare. As a result of talking to them I now have the vehicles history till June 1996 when at 60012 miles it was sold to a private buyer local to ourselves. I have spoken to the lady concerned and gained yet more knowledge of the car - no the alloys had never been fitted. The new owner had it maintained by local garages but few were able to supply me with more than the usual service details. Me I maintain the vehicle now so nothing is spared. The car is shown throughout the summer at local shows and although is not concourse earned me first and third prize's at a couple of show and shines this year - I was pleased. The car only covered 1000 miles last year and so far due to cancelled shows has done even less this, not MPG but pounds per mile! Ouch The car is completely standard except for the 57i Induction kit and numerous layers of polish and will be kept so. The number plate has given rise to comments at shows such as "its in good nick for a C reg mate" The plate actually arose as a christmas present, Sherry has C2SAG on her Audi, well they made good his and hers presents. I have become involved with the South Wales branch of the XROC as untill this year there was no South West branch. Thanks to Mark and the team for allowing me to join them. Next year I hope to attend shows with both branch's Oh the alloys, well I have spent two years trying to obtain the correct 5 pointed star style for the car and found them at Ford Fair last year. We only went on spec as we were not showing the car. Then I nearly did not buy them until my wife persuaded me other wise…. Or else.
